The league is based out of Sydney, Australia. The Ladies Gridiron League was modeled off the success of the LFL and attempted to bring awareness of American football to Australian culture.[1] However, because the league has been unable to secure financial commitments, an official season is yet to take place. Five teams were formed to take part in the league: Berwick Diamonds, Sutherland Sirens, Western Furries, Newcastle Vipers and Bondi Rage.[2]

This announcement was followed by every player and coach signing over to the Australian owned league, the Ladies Gridiron League in Australia. LGL is now setup to be the major league, All of the new 2014 LGL team names are registered under Ladies Gridiron League (LGL) Australia.

In February 2015, it was revealed that the players and coaches had actually left the Legends Football League after disputes and issues with LFL management, namely Commissioner Mortaza. Players and coaches left and joined the Ladies Gridiron League, originally a subsidiary of the LFL now operating ad its own league.[3]
