Laboratory informatics
Laboratory informatics is the specialized application of information technology aimed at optimizing laboratory operations. It encompasses electronic lab notebooks, sample management, data acquisition, data processing, reporting and scientific data management. A closely related - some consider subsuming - field is Laboratory automation.
