"Labelled With Love" was the third single released from Squeeze's fourth album, East Side Story. It was the last Squeeze single to reach the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #4 in 1981. Although "Labelled With Love" itself was popular, the single's high chart placing was also partly due to the unexpected popularity of the flip-side "Squabs on Forty Fab", a tongue-in-cheek disco medley of Squeeze's greatest hits (in the vein of the Stars on 45 Medley).
Difford and Tilbrook later used the title for a short-lived 1983 stage musical adapted from their songs.[1]
As with some other Squeeze songs, most of the lines end in half rhymes ("other"/"mother" and "myself/shelf" being notable exceptions).
