La Ceiba Bilingual School (or CBS) is a bilingual (English/Spanish) school located in La Ceiba, Honduras. Like many bilingual schools in Honduras it follows the US school-year (fall to spring). It is the second oldest bilingual school in the city (Mazapan School being the first). It is located in the El Sauce neighborhood.
As opposed to bilingual schools in the city that follow the United States school system, CBS teachers follow a traditional Honduran school system, with grades 1 - 11. The pre-school education starts with daycare or nursery.
Since the beginning it has been a family run institution. Sandra Payne, the school's founder, was the first principal. Sandra Suyapa de Hyde, Ms. Payne's daughter and a CBS alumna, is the current principal.
