Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) or Low-Power Network (LPN) is a type of telecommunication networks designed to allow long range communication at a low bit rate among things (connected objects), such as sensors, operated on battery.
LPWAN platforms and technologies include:
- LoRaWAN, Long Range WAN, from the LoRa Alliance.
- PLANet, from Telensa.
- RPMA, Random Phase Multiple Access, from On-Ramp Wireless.
- UNB, Ultra Narrow Band, from Sigfox.
- Weightless, from the Weightless SIG.
