Kyle Craven

Kyle Craven (born 1989, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), commonly known by his Internet nickname "Bad Luck Brian", is an American Internet celebrity known for his ubiquitous photo posted on Reddit in 2012 which quickly became a popular meme.[1]

Kyle Craven's popularity originated from his high-school yearbook photo posted to the social news website Reddit by Kyle's friend Ian Davies on January 24, 2012 at 2:15 UTC.[2] It quickly became a popular Image macro on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. Kyle's photo was turned into T-shirts, stuffed animals and novelty items sold by Walmart and Hot Topic. Volkswagen, and others companies paid to use his pictures in their ad campaigns. Kyle's "meme" earned him up to $20,000. Craven tried to make his internet kudos even more popular by filming videos about his character on YouTube.[3]

Kyle traveled to Los Angeles to date Laina Morris, another popular meme character. Laina and Kyle didn't fall in love but the resulting video was watched more than 2 million times online. In reality, Kyle works for his dad's construction business building churches.[4][5]
