Kyenjojo is a town in Western Uganda. It is the main municipal, administrative and commercial center of Kyenjojo District and the district headquarters are located there. The district is named after the town.
Location
Kyenjojo is situated at the intersection of two major Ugandan highways. The Kyenjojo-Hoima Highway makes a T-junction with the Fort Portal-Mubende Highway in the middle of town. The town is located approximately 47 kilometres (29 mi), by road, east of Fort Portal, the largest town in the sub-region.[2] This location lies approximately 275 kilometres (171 mi), by road, west Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.[3] The coordinates of the town are:0°36'36.0"N, 30°38'39.0"E (Latitude:0.610000; Longitude:30.644167).[4]
Population
In 2002, the national census estimated the population of the town at about 15,040. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), estimated the population of Kyenjojo at 20,100. The annual population growth rate of the town is approximately 3.6%. In 2011, UBOS estimated the population of Kyenjojo at 20,900.[5] The table below uses annual population estimates, to show the population trends in Kyenjojo, between 2002 and 2013.
