Kuznetsovsk (Ukrainian: Кузнецовськ, Russian: Кузнецовск) is a city in Rivne Oblast, Ukraine. Population is 41,454 (2012). The mayor of Kuznetsovsk is S. Anoshchenko (2010-current). The urban-type settlement was founded on 1973 as a company town of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. The new town was named in honor of the Soviet secret agent and chekist Nikolai Kuznetsov. The plan of the city reflected the ideals of late socialist realism. Part of the city occupies the site of the former village Varash, founded on 1776. Now it is one of districts in the city.

Education

There are 12 kindergartens, 6 secondary schools, high school, music school, college, and a branch of the Kiev Institute of Management in the city.

Press

Publishes three newspapers and operates a television and a radio company in Kuznetsovsk.

Architecture

As Kuznetsovsk is a relatively young city, it has a typical building style from the Soviet period. Today the city continues to grow and expand.

Religion

There are few churches and a cathedral. Architectural symbol of the city can be called the Svyato-Preobrazhenskiy Cathedral.
