Kuriakose Mor Theophilos

Theophilos Kuriakose is a Syriac Orthodox bishop of the Jacobite Syrian Church. As of 2013 he was the resident Metropolitan of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary, Udayagiri ^[1] and the Metropolitan of the Malankara dioceses of Germany, Switzerland, Austria.

Life

Born on 1 February 1966 as the son of Kodikuthiyil Cheria Varkey and Saramma Varkey in Ooramana near Kandanad, Ernakulam. He belongs to the Ooramana St George Thabor Jacobite Syrian Church in the Kandanad Diocese. He was ordained as Deacon by Mor Gregorios Geevarghese Metropolitan in 1989, as priest by the Catholicos of the East, Baselios Thomas I in 2002 and in 2003 he was ordained as metropolitan with the name Mor Theophilos.^[2]
