Kumarganj (community development block) is an administrative division in Balurghat subdivision of Dakshin Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Kumarganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Gopalganj.[1][2]
Geography
Kumarganj is located at 25°26′02″N 88°43′36″E / 25.43379°N 88.72671°E.
Kumarganj community development block has an area of 286.90 km2.[2]
The Atreyee flows through the Kumarganj block.[3]
Gram panchayats
Gram panchayats of Kumarganj block/ panchayat samiti are: Batun, Bhour, Deor, Jakirpur, Mohana, Ramkrishnapur, Safanagar and Samjia.[4]
Demographics
As per 2001 census, Kumarganj block has a total population of 152,990, out of which 78,679 were males and 74,311 were females. Kumarganj block registered a population growth of 17.98 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 22.11 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[5]
