Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) , Coimbatore is a private Engineering College started in 1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust of Sakthi Group. About 10 km from Central Bus Stand at Gandhipuram and 2 km off Sathy Road (national highway NH-209 leading to Mysore), the well-developed college campus spreads over a sprawling 150 acres of land. Under the able guidance and patronage of Arutselvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi Group and with the able administration of Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Co - Chairman, Sri. M.Balasubramaniam, Correspondent and Sri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, the college has developed excellent facilities and resources such as spacious classrooms, seminar halls, well-equipped laboratories, workshops, well-stocked libraries, dedicated highspeed internet connectivity (broadband) and well-qualified faculty. Five Academic Blocks house the different departments. The administrative building "Dr.Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan" is an architectural beauty and a landmark in Coimbatore. The management has invested more than Rs. 800 million for the creation of state of the art infrastructural facilities.
Academics
Currently the college, as an autonomous institution affiliated to the Anna University, offers 13 under-graduate (B.E., B.Tech.) and 14 post-graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCA, MBA) programs of study. All the above courses have the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and all the eligible UG programs have also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). In addition, KCT has also been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of UGC. ISO 9001:2008 certification further confirms the institution's commitment to educational quality. 9 of the 15 academic departments have been recognized as research centers permitting research leading to Ph.D. degree by Anna University.
Facilities
The college has classrooms, seminar halls, laboratories, workshops, libraries, Internet (24 Mbit/s) connectivity and well-qualified faculty.
The Software Technology Parks of India has set up operations in the Dr.Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan located inside the college.
The institution is managed by N. Mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi Group and K. Arumugam, Correspondent. It is an ISO 9001-2000 certified organization.
