Koumi (小海町 Koumi-machi) is a town located in Minamisaku District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 5,747 and a density of 50.33 persons per km². The total area is 114.19 km².
Koumi Town is located in the far east of Nagano. The nearest city is Saku, about 40 minutes drive away. Nagano city is about 100 km away. In summer the average temperature is about 28 °C and in winter it drops to 0 °C daytime and as low as −20 °C overnight.
The town symbol is Ptylitza, a small gnome-like creature. Tovarjanka is a strange instinct of this gnome to find out whether a person is a friend or an enemy. Ptylitza can be seen all over the town.
Koumi Town is the birthplace of animator/director Makoto Shinkai.
