Kottonmouth Kings is an American hip hop group from Placentia, Orange County, California. Kottonmouth Kings officially formed in 1994, and describe themselves as "psychedelic hip-hop punk rock".[1] Kottonmouth Kings are composed of Daddy X (singer of Humble Gods, X Pistols, former singer of Doggy Style), Lou Dog (drummer of Humble Gods and former drummer of Doggy Style), D-Loc, DJ Bobby B, and newest member/ vocalists: The Dirtball.[1] The group first attracted attention with the song "Suburban Life," which appeared on the soundtrack to the film Scream 2 (With old members Saint Dog and Johnny Richter).
Kottonmouth Kings released their debut album, Royal Highness, on Capitol Records in the summer of 1998. They began to gain mainstream success with the release of their third album, High Society in 2000, and toured with D12/Primer 55 and Bionic Jive in the fall of 2001.[1] In 2006, Kottonmouth Kings headlined at the year's Cannabis Cup and was named "Band of the Year" by High Times.[2]
Daddy X and KMK left Subnoize Records due to differences between Daddy X & Kevin Zinger. Later in 2013 it was announced that Daddy X and KMK had formed a new label, "United Family Trust". Johnny Richter left Kottonmouth Kings in October 2013, and is still signed to Subnoize Records. Kottonmouth Kings (Daddy X, D-Loc & The Dirtball) released their first album without Johnny Richter on April 20, 2014 titled "The Buddah Shack EP". In September 2014 Kottonmouth Kings on their twitter & facebook pages officially announced their new album Krown Power was in the final stages & is set to be released in early 2015.
