Kotcherla is a village in Ipur Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The nearest town at 11 km south is Vinukonda, a Taluq Headquarters. Kotcherla falls into Vinukonda Assembly constituency and Narasaraopet Parliamentary constituency. It is located 88 km southwest of Guntur and is on the state highway connecting Vinukonda and Hyderabad.

Kotcherla is located at 16°03′N 79°45′E / 16.05°N 79.75°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 75 metres (246 feet).

Overview
The village panchayat includes two nearby hamlets, Kotha Nellore and Kotcherla Thanda. Kotha Nellore was formed as a settlement in the recent decades with immigrants from Kanigiri, Prakasam district. Kotcherla Thanda is a settlement formed by the people of the nomadic tribe “Lambadi”. These two hamlets are at a distance of 1 km from the village in south and southeast directions respectively. The number of voters in the panchayat is around 4500 as of May 2009.
Kotcherla is considered to be one of the very few prosperous villages in the mandal in terms of education, agriculture & entrepreneurship. On the political front, this village is considered to be very active and progressive.
The village is basically an agrarian village and most of the residents are either farmers or marginal farmers. There are three paddy milling units located on the main road to Vinukonda from Ipur. The village has two lakes called Mangala vadi Cheruvu and Ramanna Cheruvu for drinking and cultivation purposes located at a distance of 1 km from the village in south and southeast directions respectively.
Education in Kotcherla
The village has Primary school (Kindergarten to 5th grade), kaaramsetti tripuraiah Zilla Parishad High school (from 6th grade to 10th grade) run by the Zilla Parishad and a two single-teacher primary schools in S.C colony and B.C colony run by the Mandal Parishad. There are three medical clinics facilitated with the RMP doctors and a veterinary hospital, six Milk Collection Centers (MCC) and a Panchayat office building located on the main road to Vinukonda.
Temples, Churches & Mosques in Kotcherla
There is a famous temple, Ammavaaru Sri Ankala Parameswara Devi located at the 300mts from the main road towards the east. Every year in the month of May, a festival called Tirunalla happens for 3 days for the temple deity, Ammavaaru. Around 20,000 to 25,0000 pilgrims attend this festival from all over the district. It is considered as a big festival by the people of the village and celebrated grandly by decorating the temple with Garlands of different flowers and electrical lighting . During the festival the devotees of the temple deity do Pooja. On the 3rd night of the festival, cultural programs are performed on the Prabhas decorated with electrical lighting having a height of around 45–50 ft.
There are other temples in the village devoted to different deities such as a temple built for Lord Anjaneya at the karanam gari centre, a temple for Lord Shiva at the Nisamkola Bazaar where pujas are performed regularly by the devotees. There is a temple for Lord Rama which was in a dilapidated condition till recently and currently under renovation, a temple of Lord Ganesha in the paddy fields towards the north of the village, a temple of Lord Venkateswara at Mangala vadi Cheruvu towards the south of the village. As per the tradition, the bridegrooms in the village go to this temple and offer pooja to the temple deity, Lord Venkateswara, before marriage.
There are two churches located one at Madiga bazaar and other one at Mala Bazaar. There is also a mosque at the Muslim Bazaar.
