Konsole is an open source terminal emulator which is part of KDE Software Compilation. Konsole was originally written by Lars Doelle.
KDE applications, such as Konqueror, Krusader, Kate,[1] Konversation, Dolphin and KDevelop use Konsole to provide embedded terminal functionality via Kpart.
As of July 2014 Yakuake, Konsole, Dolphin, Kate and KDE Telepathy, among others are in the process of being ported to KDE Frameworks 5.[2]

- Tabbed terminals. Tab titles update dynamically depending on the current activity in the terminal.
- Translucent backgrounds.
- Split-view mode.
- Directory and SSH bookmarking.

- Can open Dolphin or the user's preferred file manager at the terminal program's current directory[3]
