Konata Mannings (March 20, 1986 in Georgetown[1]) is a Guyanese international football player who played for Pele FC Georgetown.[2]

Career

Mannings began his professional career in 2004 for Pele Georgetown[3] and was signed in 2007 from Italia Shooters of the Canadian Soccer League. He made his Italia debut in a 4-0 victory in North York on May 20, 2007.[4] He helped the Shooters finish third in the International Division; good enough to clinch a playoff spot. But unfortunately the Shooters were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Trois-Rivieres Attak.

The following year Mannings signed with Caledonia AIA. During the 2008 TT Pro League season Mannings led Caledonia to finish third in the standings and helped them qualify for the Lucozade Sport Big Six. On May 27, 2009 the North York Astros under newly appointed head coach Uğur Çimen announced the signing of Mannings for the 2009 season.[5] He made his debut for the Astros in a 2-0 defeat away at St. Catharines on June 3, 2009. Unfortunately Mannings suffered an injury against the Trois Rivieres Attak on June 13 and never regained his form to make it back on the starting line up. He returned to his native Guyana at the end of October, the Astros hope that he will be returning to their line up in 2010 to complete his contract and help them to a better season.

International career

Mannings scored his goal for Guyana on January 27, 2008 in a 2-2 tie against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He was selected represent Guyana at the 2008 Caribbean Championship, and was in the starting 11 for the first two games against Dominica and Suriname. ‘Natta’ is former Under-15, -17, -20, -21 and -23 levels team player, who scores six goals in twenty games.[6] He played with the U-21 the Central American Qualifying for 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship[7] and plays Futsal for Guyana.[8]

Personal life

His father Keith "Sanjee" Mannings is his player agent and his mother Roxanne Keith works as housewife.[9] His brother is the former Guyana national under-17 footballer[10] and now Toronto based Reggae singer Matussala Mandela Mannings.[11]
