Konar is an ethnic group from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.The Tamil word Kon means both king and herdsmen.[1][2][3] They are distributed throughout the state of Tamil Nadu, where they are one of the ancient Tamil castes.[4] Konars traditionally live in Ayarpadi and raise cow, sheep and sell milk and ghee products.[5].

The Konar are also called Yadav(in North India), Ayar and Idaiyar.[6]
