Kompania Wolontarska & Friends

Kompania Wolontarska is a Polish historical association dedicated to costumed reenactment of battles, encampment and events surrounding the 17th century Polish-Lithuanian Wars like Cossack War (1648–1654 Chmielnicki Uprising, the largest and most successful Cossack uprising against Polish domination), The Deluge (series of wars in the 17th century – conflicts between Sweden, Brandenburg, Russia, Siebenbürgen, Cossacks and their adversaries, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Khan of Crimean Khanate Mehmed IV Giray).

It takes its name from "Wolontarze" – originally "military volunteers" – an association of people who enlisted in a military service by free will and were not mercenaries.

Members of Kompania Wolontarska are focused on reenacting the military and civil aspects of 17th century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Some VOLUNTEERS have dedicated themselves to study European swordsmanship and fencing (sabre and rapier), others are interested in metalwork, carpentry, cookery or renaissance dance.

It is based in the city of Kielce.
