Komtireddy Venkat Reddy (born 23 May 1965) is an Indian politician.[1] He belongs to Indian National Congress.[2] He is an M.L.A from Nalgonda assembly constituency.
Early life
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was born in Brahmana Vellemla village, Narketpally, Nalgonda district to a farmer, Papi Reddy. He has a brother, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy earlier served as Member of Parliament, Bhongir.
Career
Komtireddy won as a candidate from Nalgonda assembly constituency three times, in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. He was a Minister for Information Technology in YS Rajasekhar Reddy's government.[3] He served as minister for ports.
He resigned both his ministry and his assembly seat in support of the Telangana cause in 2010 and again in October 2011, although the Congress government refused to accept his resignation as an MLA.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched a hunger strike in the cause of a separate Telangana state on 1 November 2011 at Nalgonda.
Personal life
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is married and has one daughter. He also had a son, Prateek Reddy, who died in a road accident on 20 December 2011 on Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad.[4]
