The Klamath Falls Gems are a collegiate woodbat baseball team based in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The current Gems play in the West Coast League [1] and are named after the former minor league baseball team who played in the original Far West League between 1948 and 1951. They play their home games at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls, also the home of the Oregon Tech baseball team. Their mascot is Tater.

History

2014

The Klamath Falls Gems went 15-39 in the 2014 WCL season. Setting the record for the most games behind the division leader being 20 games behind the Corvallis Knights, and the Gems were eliminated before hosting the All-Star game. The Gems luck got even worse by hosting the only ever rained-out All-star game in the WCL history, this was also the only game that has been rained out at Kiger Stadium in 4 years. Klamath Falls posted 11 WCL records. Steven Packard set the record for the most games in a row with at least 1 hit, he had 26 games in a row with a hit. Jordan Kron set the record for the most loses by any one pitcher in WCL history by having 8 loses. Pitcher Michael Hirko set the record for the most Home runs allowed by anyone pitcher, he allowed 11 home runs during the season. Michael Silva set the records for the most walks allowed by walking 56 batters. As a whole the Gems had the highest ERA of 7.08, they also had the most hits allowed, they allowed 598 hits on their watch. Also, the Gems allowed the most runs by allowing 457 runs, the Gems also allowed the most earned runs by allowing 381 runs in the season. More record that the Gems set were, allowing 47 home runs setting the record for the most home runs allowed by any team, also allowing 311 walks setting the recorrd for the most walks by any team, sending 95 wild pitches to the plate, setting the most records for the most wild pitches by any one team. The Gems brought 27,354 fans in 29 games averaging just 943 fans a night.
