Kjer Glacier is a tidewater glacier in the Qaasuitsup municipality, located on the northwestern shore of Greenland. It drains the Greenland ice sheet (Greenlandic: Sermersuaq) southweatwards into Melville Bay.[1] The glacier front is located to the northwest of the Tuttulikassak nunatak, with the glacier constituting the northern end of Upernavik Archipelago.[1]

Administrative border

Before the administrative changes on 1 January 2009 in the country, the border between the former Upernavik Municipality and the former Qaanaaq Municipality ran through Kjer Glacier.[1] Since then, both municipalities and the entire coast of Melville Bay are part of the Qaasuitsup municipality, at 660,000 km2 (254,827.4 sq mi) the largest municipality in the world.[2]
