Kiso (木曽町 Kiso-machi) is a town located in Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
The town was founded on November 1, 2005, when the town of Kisofukushima was merged with three villages (Mitake, Hiyoshi and Kaida), all from Kiso District.
As of December 1, 2005, the town had an estimated population of 13,959. The total area is 476.06 km².
Politics and government
Kiso is governed by Mayor Tanaka Katsumi, supported by the Japanese Communist Party. The city assembly has 18 elected members and is dominated by independents.
