Kishore Jayaram (born 14 August 1974),[1][2] credited as Kishore, is an Indian film actor, born in Karnataka. Known for playing characters that fit the bill of the anti-hero – be it a cop, politician, or character role, Kishore made a space for himself in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema.
Early life
Kishore was a student of National College, Basavanagudi where he started off with theatre doing plays like Teregalu and Samrata Ashoka.[2] He then did his masters in Kannada literature from Bangalore University. He took up teaching in a college in Bangalore[3] where he worked for two years and then as a part-time fashion designer worked under fashion designer Vidyasagar, a professor from Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT).
Career
Kishore made his film debut in the 2004 Kannada film Kanti, acting as Byaadara Beera. He got a role in the film after having been identified initially to design costumes for the film and eventually went on to win a State award for his role in it.[3] For his role in the film Raakshasa, he won the Karnataka State Award for Best Supporting Actor.[3] His acting as a tough elder brother of heroines in Akash and Kallarali Hoovagi was widely appreciated. Gaining fame as a reliable actor, he was approached by director Vetrimaaran to work in Desiya Nedunchalai, as he was looking for an actor who could speak Tamil with a Kannada accent. The film was dropped, but he got a chance to act in Polladhavan. As a no non-sense cop in Duniya Kishore gained acclaim. His role as a Kabaddi coach in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu was well-appreciated. However, highpoint in his career was the role of forest brigand Veerappan in the 2013 film Attahasa.[4][5] In the same year, he appeared in a low-budget film Jatta in which played the role of a forest guard. The film was a commercial and critical success and won Kishore praise from critics. The year 2013 turned to a notable year to Kishore in Tamil too as he had two major releases (excluding Vana Yuddham, the Tamil version of the bi-lingual Attahasa which were critically acclaimed Haridas and Commercially successful Ajith starrer Arrambam. In both the movies Kishore had played the role of a cop. Haridas movie particularly gained critics attention for Kishore's character in the movie as a police officer raising his kid who suffers from autism and makes him an athlete. Kishore became a regular fare in Telugu and Tamil movies.[6]
In 2014, he appeared in Ulidavaru Kandanthe, playing the role of Munna, another role that won him praise from critics.[7]
In 2015, Kishore got his Tamil moivie "Thilagar" released. Kishore's acting in the movie was praised by critics though the movie was not very successful in the box office. [8]
