Building
As part of the Scottish Government's £134m PPP school's capital investment program,[14] a new building opened to the pupils on 19 August 2009, replacing the thirty-six-year-old building on the same site. It was originally slated to open April 2009 but a 2008 fire delayed completion until August 2009.[15]
Controversies
In May 2011 a classroom assistant at the school, 44-year-old Elizabeth Carmichael of Lenzie, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with a sexual abuse of trust after she was alleged to have had an affair with a teenage student.[16][17][18]
Notable former pupils
- Scott Brown, St Johnstone player.[19]
- Andrew Crumey, novelist[20]
- Gregg Wylde, Aberdeen F.C. player.[21]
- James Scott, Motherwell F.C. (Current pupil)
