Kinwat is a city and a municipal council in Nanded district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The Kinwat taluka came into existence in 1905 by combining villages from Narsapur and Nirmal talukas in Adilabad district then coming under the Hyderabad division.[1]
Geography
Kinwat is located at 19°38′N 78°12′E / 19.63°N 78.2°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 314 metres (1030 feet). The river Penganga flows aside the town. Nagzari dam is situated just few kilometers away from the town which is one of the important water source to residents nearby in the summer. Drinking water is fetched from the deep ground levels by new colonies which may be the cause for sunken water table. The most popular residential area is SVM colony. The city has large scale farms on Kinwat-Mandwa-Nagzari road. It is rich in forest wealth.
Transport
Kinwat is a railway station on Mudkhed-Adilabad Meter Gauge (Now Broad Gauge) Section of then Hyderabad (HYB) Division of South Central Railway (SCR). After Divisional adjustments in 2003, which saw the bifurcation of Hyderabad Division, Kinwat now comes under Nanded (NED) Division of SCR. The Mudkhed-Adilabad Meter Gauge Section has since been converted into Broad Gauge. Now the broad gauge link from Kinwat to other major cities like Mumbai, Nagpur, Aurangabad lead to huge benefits to citizens as it allows new trains to ply from the station.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[3] Kinwat had a population of 24,867. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kinwat has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 57%. In Kinwat, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.Kinwat has a big forest around it.

Unkeshwar hot springs
Unkeshwar hot spring are located at Unkeshwar Village, near Sarkhani in Kinwat Taluka. The name Unkeshwar is because of Lord Unkeshwar (MAHADEV) temples. It is a sacred place. Many pilgrims come from various parts of India to view natural beauty of this place. Unkeshwar hot spring rich in phosphate and sulphur contents so that here Ashrams are built up to treat diseased peoples free of cost by the Temple committee.
Teak Wood
Teakwood of kinwat is very famous. Abundance of teakwood always attract threat to tread the wood by illegal means and deforestation by locals.Teakwodd is of good quality.
