Derrick Dewayne Hill, better known by his stage name Kingpin Skinny Pimp, or simply Skinny Pimp, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee, known for his fast delivery.
Career
Raised in North Memphis, Skinny Pimp began his career in 1985 while attending Herman Junior High School. He first started rapping alongside DJ Squeeky and his crew, and rose to significance when he began working with Three 6 Mafia after the group formed its own record label, Prophet Entertainment, and issued its 1995 debut album, Mystic Stylez, on which Skinny Pimp performed. A year later, his debut album, King of da Playaz Ball, was released on Prophet Entertainment, and featured production from DJ Paul and Juicy J. Basix Records would release Skinny But Dangerous, a collection of his older underground recordings also produced by DJ Paul and Juicy J. After being signed to Hypnotize Minds for a brief period, their partnership didn't last long and he would cut ties with the label to begin recording independently.[3] He would go on to achieve substantial underground success.
