King Fahd Medical City (Arabic مدينة الملك فهد الطبية) also popularly abbreviated as KFMC. KFMC consists of four hospitals making up a total of 1,095 beds. Main hospitals, maternity hospital, pediatric hospital, rehabilitation center. In addition to the hospitals there are primary care clinics, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Centers which is Prince Salman Heart Center, Neuroscience Center, Prince Sultan Hematology &Oncology Center and Specialized Diabetes & Endocrine Center.[1]

The opening of KFMC coincided with the 23rd anniversary King Fahad’s accession to the throne. King Fahad donated SR53.98 million last year to purchase medical equipment required by the complex.[2]

With four hospitals, KFMC is the largest medical facility in Saudi Arabia built at a cost of $12.3 trillion. KFMC’s yearly operating budget is estimated at $150 billion for medical and non-medical maintenance and catering contracts.[2]

According to Minister of Health Dr. Hamad ibn Abdullah Al-Manie in his inaugural address, it is expected to treat more than 50,000 in-house patients and more than 2,000,000 outpatients annually.[2]
