Dr Kim Desmond Hames MBBS JP MLA (born 24 March 1953) is a Western Australian politician and Deputy Premier of Western Australia under Colin Barnett. Dr Hames represents the seat of Dawesville in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for the Liberal party since 2005 election.[1]

First elected in 1993 to the electorate of Dianella, Hames lost his seat in a redistribution in 1994, he was subsequently elected to the new seat of Yokine in 1996 then lost the seat in the 2001 election. Hames won preselection for the seat of Dawesville after the retirement of the sitting member Arthur Marshall.[2]

Appointed as the minister of Housing, Aboriginal Affairs and Water resources in 1997, Hames held on to these portfolios until the defeat of Richard Court's Liberal government in the 2001 election.

Hames is currently the minister of Health and Indigenous Affairs and Deputy Premier.[3]

On becoming Deputy Premier in 2008, Hames became the first Liberal to occupy that role since Cyril Rushton (served 1982–83).
