Kilemarsky District (Russian: Килема́рский райо́н; Mari: Кӹлемар кундем) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the fourteen in the Mari El Republic, Russia. It is located in the west of the republic. The area of the district is 3,350 square kilometers (1,290 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Kilemary.[2] Population: 13,604 (2010 Census);[4] 14,130 (2002 Census);[7] 16,684 (1989 Census).[8] The population of Kilemary accounts for 29.9% of the district's total population.[4]
