Kilburn Gaels Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilburn, London, England. The club was founded in 1997 and is exclusively concerned with the game of hurling.
History
Kilburn Gaels Hurling Club was founded in 1997 as an amalgamation of the two former London based clubs - Desmonds and Glen Rovers. The juvenile club was established some years earlier in 1991. Both clubs are affiliated to the London County Board. In 2004 the decision was taken to amalgamate the senior and juvenile clubs with the election of the new committee in 2005.
Martin 'SKINNER' Scanlon
Skinner is widely regarded as the best home grown talent London has ever produced. Despite having the advantage of hitting puberty at the age of 8, 'Skinner' did not let this stop him in his path. Unfortunately Skinner has had to hang up his boots due to an abnormal eating disorder (this is a very rare disease and any contributions would be a big help. Contact Paul Doyle, Emerald Grounds, Ruislip). One of the biggest downers on Skinner's career was when he was asked to play for the Kilburn Gaels intermediate side. When Skinner received the call, he anticipated that he would be doing his normal important role, however not only was Skinner dropped to play in goal, he played in goal wearing the opposing colours. He has not has not received a call since.
After Kilburn's win over Robert Emmett's in the 2013 London Senior Championship to send them into the semi-final, rumours are now circulating that Skinner may yet make a return to his midfield position to help Kilburn to win the coveted title this year.
