Kieran McGuckin (born 12 September 1967 in Ballyvolane, County Cork) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Glen Rovers and with the Cork senior inter-county team[1] from 1990 until 1996.

Playing career

Club

McGuckin played his club hurling with Glen Rovers club in Blackpool. He had much underage success with the Glen, and he also won a Cork SHC title in 1989. It was Glen Rovers’ first county title since 1976.

Inter-county

McGuckin first came to prominence as a member of the Cork minor hurling team in the mid-1980s. He first tasted success in 1985 when he won a Munster and an All-Ireland medal with Cork. Three years later in 1988 he was a member of the Cork under-21 side that claimed Munster and All-Ireland honours. By 1990 McGuckin had joined the Cork senior hurling team. He captained the side to win the Munster title that year, before later winning his first senior All-Ireland title following a defeat of Galway.
