Kiasmos

Kiasmos is an Icelandic minimal, experimental techno duo, composed of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen. They started in 2009 and released their first extended play "Thrown" in 2012 and their album "Kiasmos" in 2014.

Members

Arnalds and Rasmussen worked together when Arnalds was a sound engineer for Rasmussen's Bloodgroup project.

Ólafur Arnalds

Ólafur Arnalds (born 3 November 1986) is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Mosfellsbær, Iceland.[1] He was a drummer for hardcore metal bands Fighting Shit and Celestine, among others.

His work is characterised by strings and piano, with loops and edgy beats as a fusion of ambient/electronic and pop.[1][2] He won a BAFTA in 2014 for his work on the UK ITV program Broadchurch.[3]

Janus Rasmussen

Janus Rasmussen, from the Faroe Islands, is a member of Bloodgroup. Rasmussen also worked along with other artists such as Guðrið Hansdóttir.

Labels

In 2009 the duo started with the label "Rival Consoles" for their '65/Milo split 12"' release. They also work with Erased Tapes Records Ltd., more particularly for their album Thrown.
