Khalifa al-Ghawi, sometimes transliterated as Khalifa al-Ghweil (Arabic: خليفة الغويل), is a Libyan politician. He is the acting prime minister of the new General National Congress, a group claiming to be the legitimate continuation of the former Libyan parliament in Tripoli.[1]
Prior to 31 March 2015, al-Ghawi served as a deputy or aide to Omar al-Hassi, the prime minister of the disputed Tripoli-based government.[1][2] After al-Hassi was fired as head of the GNC, al-Ghawi was tapped to serve as prime minister for one month, on a temporary basis.[1][3]
