Khalid Aziz

Khalid Aziz, LVO, DL, FRSA (born 1953, Lahore, Pakistan) is a British writer and television presenter. He started his career as a journalist, becoming the youngest producer in the BBC at Radio Leicester. At age 24, he became the youngest presenter of a 6 o'clock BBC TV regional news programme, Look North from Leeds.

In his 12-year career with the BBC, he worked on many BBC News and Current Affairs programmes including Newsbeat. In 1982, he moved to the then ITV company TVS and became the first main anchor for the South edition of the regional news programme, Coast to Coast. Aziz later concentrated on business programming for the station, presenting and producing the award-winning series, Enterprise South.

He is a visiting professor of Business Communications at the Southampton University and Visiting Professor of Journalistic Ethics at the University of Winchester. Between 2000 and 2006, he wrote Speaking Out, a regular monthly column for Management Today. His tenth book, Presenting to Win, was published on 1 January 2000. His latest book, Managing Communications in a Crisis, was published in February 2004.

Affiliations/Honours

He is an International Ambassador for the Prince's Trust, and in 1997 was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Office for National Statistics. He chaired the Wessex Children's Hospice Trust (1992–97 and 1998-2013) when he was appointed Life President having led the charity in the building of Naomi House and jacksplace and leading a team that raised during the period of his chairmanship £75m.In 2013 he was elected Chairman of Trustees of Enham Trust, a national charity that looks after the interests of more than 7,000 disabled adults.

He was appointed a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) in the 1997 Queen’s Birthday Honours and in March 1998 he was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) of Hampshire. In August 2002, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

The Aziz Corporation

He founded The Aziz Corporation[1] in 1983 originally to help business to communicate more effectively with the media and he is chairman of the Naomi House Hospice in Hampshire.[2]
