Khaled al-Obeidi is the Iraqi Defense Minister. He is a Sunni and a member of the Iraqi parliament's Itihad al-Quwa al-Wataniyah bloc.
Biography
Dr. Khalid Yassin al-Obeidi was born in the city of Mosul. He completed high school in 1977 or 1978. He finished his graduate studies in 1984. That year he joined the Air Force in as an engineer, specializing in structures and aircraft turbine engines until the American invasion in 2003 In 2007 joined the Ministry of Higher Education's Technical Education Authority.[1]
He was appointed Defense Minister in October 2014.
