Kerwad (H) is a village in Uttara Kannada in the southwestern India state of Karnataka.[1][2] The village is 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) by road north of the town of Haliyal.
History
There are a substantial amount of Chardo families in this area as they had migrated due to the persecution of the Portuguese in Goa.
Language
Both Konkani and Marathi are spoken in Kerwad (H). Konkani is spoken as it is in close proximity to Goa, and many Goans settled in Kerwad when they migrated from Goa. Marathi is spoken locally, as Kerwad is also in close proximity to Belgaum.
