Kerakat is a town of the Jaunpur District in northern India with a population of approximately 13,500. It is situated near the Gomati River which helps the land around the town stay very fertile. It is very well connected via road to the cities of Azamgarh, Jaunpur and Varanasi. Varanasi Airport (Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport) is 30 km away. It is well connected by the railways as the Audhiar-Jaunpur and Jalalganj(JLL) railway stations connect to Lucknow. Thanks to the Railway Ministry who have shifted Kerakat Railway station to Muftiganj and Dhobhi (a nearby village), nowadays the narrow gauge rail track has been replaced with a broad gauge. Historical places: Many temples such as Kali Mata Mandir and Gomteshwar Mahadev are situated on the coast of Gomti river and HANDIYA BABA temple at khalispur (khurd). Kerakat is known for its own activities throughout India.
