Kenya Commercial Bank (Burundi) (KCB Burundi), is a commercial bank in Burundi. It is one of the commercial banks licensed by the Bank of the Republic of Burundi, the national banking regulator.[1]
Overview
As of May 2012, the bank is a small, but growing financial services provider in Burundi. At that time, the bank's total assets were valued at about US$10 million, with shareholdr's equity of about the same amount. KCB Burundi is the 10th and smallest of Burundi's commercial banks.[2]
KCB Group
The bank is a member of the Kenya Commercial Bank Group (KCB Group), headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with subsidiaries in six East African countries. KCB Group is the largest financial services organization in East Africa, with an estimated asset valuation in excess of US$3 billion (KES:322 billion), and shareholders' equity in excess of US$412 million (KES:41 billion).[3] The Group has the widest network of banking outlets comprising over 225 branches and over 400 automated teller machines in Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.[4]
History
KCB Burundi commenced provision of banking services on Tuesdat 8 May 2011, having been granted a commercial banking license on Wednesday 18 April 2012. KCB Group became the first financial services group to establish subsidiaries in all the five countries of the East African Community.[5]
