Career
Ken Whitman and Marc Miller co-founded Imperium Games in 1996.[1]:330 Whitman was president of the company, and gathered a group of role-playing professionals to run the new company.[1]:331 Whitman helped design the fourth edition of Traveller, and wrote about psionics for the system.[1]:331 Whitman was at the heart of financial disagreements between Imperium and its backer Sweetpea Entertainment, and ultimately quit because of these disagreements over money expenditures.[1]:332 Additionally, Whitman had oversold the quality of content — a continuing problem for him — and it raised expectations that were then dashed upon publication.[1]:332 Fans became increasingly rebellious because of the continued overpromising of products that didn't appear, to which Whitman responded:[1]:332
I feel that others who like starting rumers are only showing their own insecurities and anger to the world. Just because you have failed several time in you life, dont belive everyone else is like you. [Sic] - Ken Whitman, "Imperium Games & Treveller," re.games.frp.misc (1996)[1]:332
Whitman ran Archangel Entertainment from 1997-1998.[1]:334 Whitman's next venture was Dynasties Productions, centering on a new magazine called Games Unplugged.[1]:351 Dynasties Presentations lasted from 1998-2001.[1]:334 Whitman then managed Elmore Production, Larry Elmore's personal art company.[1]:351 Whitman then created first Rapid POD which lasted from 2005-2007, and he created Sidekick Printing in 2010.[1]:334
