Kelli Hand

Kelli Maria Hand alias K. Hand (born ca. 1965 in Detroit, Michigan[1]) is an American techno musician and DJ. She also releases under the names By Kely, Etat Solide, Gorsch, Messenger and Queen Mecca.

Life and career

Born and raised in Detroit, Hand started to work as a DJ in the 1980s.[2] In 1990 she founded her own label Acacia Records.[1] In the early 1990s she released first singles and EPs. In 1994 her single Global Warning was released on the British label Warp Records. In 1995 her debut album On A Journey was released on Studio !K7.

She left Detroit the same year and moved to Atlanta but came back to her hometown two years later.[1]

During 1997 three further albums were released on the labels !K7 Records, Substance and Ausfahrt.

Her album Detroit History Part 1 was released in 2001 on Tresor on the occasion of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF).
