Kelley Elaine Herring (née Lunsford; born August 24, 1976) is an American businesswoman, writer, and health educator. She is best known as a nutrition expert, scientist, nutritional products formulator and nutrition researcher. She specializes in special dietary needs including Celiac and diabetes.[1][2][3]

Founder of Healing Gourmet, she has written numerous bestselling books, is the publisher of the Healing Gourmet website and newsletter and has authored 13 books to date.[4][5]

Early life

In 1998 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, with an emphasis on biochemistry/pre-med at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. She also did graduate work in biochemistry and immunology at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL. In 2000 she graduated with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from NYIT, Boca Raton, FL.

Career

After college, she worked in various jobs – including financial services and teaching – before founding Healing Gourmet. Her own personal struggles with health and working on a Master’s thesis in her MBA spurred her to leave the corporate world and start her own business teaching people how foods promote health and protect against disease.

Healing Gourmet Series

In 2005, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Healing Gourmet Book Series focusing on chronic disease prevention through nutrition. Included in the series are:

Over 500,000 copies of this series were sold worldwide, and the series is translated in three languages. The series was written in association with a team of doctors, dietitians and chefs which she curated and managed throughout the process.

Guilt Free Desserts

In 2007, she wrote Guilt Free Desserts – A Complete Guide to Creating All-Natural, Gluten-Free, Low Glycemic Dessert Recipes.

The Food Cure Series

In 2009, she wrote The Food Cure – A comprehensive seven book Transformational Program for Beating Diabetes, Healing Your Heart, Preventing Cancer, Boosting Energy and Burning Fat… with Food!

Better Breads

In 2014, she created Better Breads – a program focusing on grain-free and gluten-free baking including more than 30 recipes.

Delicious Solutions Program

At present, she is working to launch a completely personalized meal planning program called Delicious Solutions that is tailored to an individual’s health needs, weight goals, food allergies and intolerances and much more.[11]

Healing Gourmet

She also developed and maintains the Healing Gourmet website[12] including thousands of recipes and articles on healing with food.

Wellness Bakeries

In 2009, and with the help of her husband, Jon Herring, she formulated a line of gluten-free, low-glycemic baking mixes made with all-natural ingredients. The manufacturing facility is located in Huntsville, UT.[13]
