Keesha Sharp (born June 9, 1973)[1] is an American television actress. Her best-known role is as Monica on the UPN/The CW show, Girlfriends, which she played William Dent's (Reggie Hayes) girlfriend, and later wife, Monica from 2002 to the series finale in 2008. For this role she earned an NAACP Image Award Nomination for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series".

Career

After graduating from The Boston Conservatory, Sharp set her sights on the stage. She performed in the Broadway National Tour of "Carousel", debuted Off-Broadway in Michael Bradford's "Living in the Wind" and played eight different roles in the interactive comedy "Eat the Runt". Other theatre performances include "Abyssinia", "Aida", "Thunder Knockin'", "Jitney", "The Producers", "Big Street", "Suburb" and "Joe Turner's Come and Gone".

Sharp is best known for her role as "Monica Charles Brooks" on the CW series Girlfriends. Her role garnered a nomination for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.[2]

Sharp has also appeared on The Game, The Tracy Morgan Show, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Still Standing and other sitcoms. From 20052006, Sharp was signed to 9 episodes on Chris Rock's autobiographical sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris as Shiela Ridenhour, a sexy neighbor next door.

Sharp has also appeared in the films, Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, Malibu's Most Wanted, Pootie Tang, Never Die Alone, American Adobo, and Why Did I Get Married.

Sharp's latest role is as "Gigi" on the TBS series Are We There Yet?. The Boston Herald says in its review, "Keesha Sharp shines as the series' brightest spot."

In addition to her work on the screen and stage, Sharp is an author. She has co-written a screenplay with Thomas Monteleone and has a television pilot in the works.
