As part of the "Keelung Station Reconstruction Project" announced by the Executive Yuan in July 2007, Keelung Station will be relocated to the south of Zhong 1st Road.[3] As an urban renewal project, the station will be moved underground. The new station will be equipped with two island platforms and four tracks, and will cost an estimated NT$2.627 billion. The project includes 1.5 km (0.93 mi) of track, including the route to Sankeng Station. It is expected to be completed by December 2013, and will eliminate two level crossings.[4]
