Kay Prudhomme

Kay Hinrichs Prudhomme was an American chef and restaurateur specializing in Cajun cuisine, and the wife of Paul Prudhomme. Together, they owned K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, which they opened in 1979.

Background

Prudhomme met her husband while the two were working in the restaurant of the Maison Dupuy hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. K worked front-of-house, while Paul worked in the kitchen.

Prudhomme died after a 7-year bout with a rare, incurable cancer on December 31, 1993 at the age of 48.
