Katta
Katta कट्टा or Katt कट्ट is a modern Devnagari colloquial word used in Nepal as an adjective to describe an event that is either wrong or undesired to a person(s). It is used to refer Madhesi style Khukuri in Madhesh autonomous region of Nepal. It can roughly be translated in English as "suffering embarrassment, shame or failure" or things not turning out as desired. Its etymology as a slang word is vague. The word katta occurs in more than one Indian language, and its meanings and usage differ.

- In Hindi, it is sometimes used to refer to a man who takes care of the proceedings of a funeral. Generally he is a helper of the priest who arrange for all the necessary objects that are required for the funeral as per the Hindu traditions.
- Local law-breakers prefer a 'katta' (a variant of gun that is made locally by some unauthorised dealer), as it is easy to dispose of and its ownership can't be tracked to them. Police records reveal that in about 78% of criminal cases, 'katta' or its refined version was used. Petty criminals and dacoits in Bundelkhand region prefer the refined version of 'kattas'.
