Katie Pavlich (born July 10, 1988)^[2][3] is an American conservative journalist, primarily known for her work at the online news magazine Townhall.com as well as for authoring the book Fast and Furious: Barack Obama's Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-Up. A National Review Washington Fellow, she has appeared numerous times as a television commentator, notably on the Fox News Channel program The Five.

Biography

Catherine M. Pavlich^[4] was born on July 10, 1988. Self-described as a Daughter of the American Revolution,^[5] she was raised in the mountainous areas of northern Arizona and developed interests in river rafting and hunting and a love of the outdoors from her father. She graduated from Sinagua High School in Flagstaff,^[6] and went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Arizona.^[1]

After completing her degree in 2010, Pavlich moved to the Washington, D.C., area and became news editor for Townhall.com, a contributing editor to Townhall Magazine,^[7] and a Fox News Channel contributor.^[1] In the summer of 2013, she became an alternate co-host for The Five. She is also a National Review Washington Fellow.^[8] As a reporter, she has covered topics ranging from alleged White House scandals and the 2012 presidential election to the Second Amendment and U.S. border issues. Pavlich has shared her perspective on multiple media venues, including Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and Fox Business, in addition to numerous national and local radio shows. She is a regular speaker on college campuses across the country.

Pavlich was named Blogger of the Year at CPAC 2013^[9] for her coverage of the ATF gunwalking scandal commonly referred to as the Fast and Furious scandal.

She is the author of a book on the same subject, Fast and Furious: Barack Obama's Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-Up (2012). With a foreword written by former ATF agent Jay Dobyns, the book attracted praise from author and pundit David Limbaugh, who stated that "Katie is a terrific reporter and whistleblower" and called the work "an eye-opening book".^[10] Columnist Bob Adelmann of The New American, a publication of the John Birch Society, also lauded the book, writing, "Pavlich has done a careful job of putting the pieces together in her book and is fearless in presenting them."^[11]

In the book, Pavlich argues:

Operation Fast and Furious wasn't a "botched" program. It was a calculated and lethal decision to purposely place thousands of guns into the hands of ruthless criminals. The guns weren't accidentally misplaced or lost. They didn't just somehow "fall into the wrong hands" by mistake. The operation was a coordinated and planned effort not to track guns but to arm thugs south of the border for political gain.^[12]

In July 2014, Pavlich published her second book, Assault & Flattery: The Truth About the Left and Their War on Women. In the book, she writes

It's a two-part war—a war waged to make all women subscribe to certain social behavior, involving complete sexual "liberation" and "independence," and a war waged to convince women that the Democratic Party is the party that will give them everything they need to achieve that narrow-minded view on life—if they pledge their political allegiance. This is not about women's rights. It's about political power and the agenda of the Left, and how a radical feminist movement can conveniently fit into that power grab. Erasing the GOP's historical role in women's rights is key because it hides the plain truth of how the Left hijacked the movement and made it something that the original suffragettes never wanted or could imagine.^[13]

On July 10, 2014, the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute honored Pavlich as the Woman of the Year.^[14] In accepting the honor, Pavlich said, "The American people, and young women in particular, can no longer afford to let the deceptive rhetoric of the left dominate the national dialogue. It's truly a privilege to continue to work with my conservative colleagues in creating a more powerful voice for our cause."^[14]

Potential 2022 Senate campaign

In March 2013, Pavlich posted on her Twitter account that she was mulling a 2022 Senate primary run against incumbent John McCain in her home state of Arizona.^[15] On April 7th 2015 McCain announced he would seek reelection in 2016,^[16] however it is doubtful he will seek a 7th term in 2022 considering he would be 86 years old on election day and 92 by the end of his term.
