Kathy Vara

Kathy Vara is a television news anchor in Los Angeles. She joined KNBC Channel 4's early-morning newscast as the sole anchor of the recently expanded 4:30 a.m.-5 a.m. newscast, and joined her fellow anchors from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. as a "contributing anchor" with anchors Chris Schauble and Alycia Lane in March 2010. Vara now co-anchors weekend evenings newscast at 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. with Robert Kovacik. It was rumored that KCBS was in negotiations with Vara to reunite her with Kent Shocknek on CBS 2 News 5-7am. Vara and Shocknek were the popular anchors of Today in L.A.

Vara left KABC last year after a nine-year stint on the morning news, made her first on-air appearance March 29, 2010 on "Today in L.A.". The former KABC Channel 7 "Eyewitness News" morning anchor also anchored "Today in L.A." from 1994 to 2001.[1]
