Kate Bateman is a British auctioneer, valuer and antiques expert. She is a Director of Batemans Auctioneers and Valuers in Stamford, Lincs. Kate has appeared as an expert on several BBC antiques programmes such as "Flog It!", "Bargain Hunt" and "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is".
Early life
Kate grew up in Spain and the UK. Educated at Oundle School, Kate gained a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Nottingham in English with French before studying fine art. As the daughter of two artists, Kate worked in the family antiques shop and art gallery and attended many auctions which fueled her passion for fine art and antiques. Kate founded Batemans Auctioneers and Valuers in 2001 with her father Ron Bateman in the historic market town of Stamford, Lincs.
She specialises in all things small: pottery; porcelain; jewellery; silver; objets d'art; militaria; stamps; and coins, with a special love of antiquities and paintings.
Television
Bateman made her TV debut after being spotted by a BBC film crew filming at her auction house. She first appeared as an auction house expert before coming to wider public attention after joining the panel of experts on the popular BBC's antiques programmes Flog It! and Bargain Hunt and "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is".
Personal life
Married to Matt, Kate has three children. She currently splits her time between the UK and Chicago, Illinois.
