Kate Giles (born 8 September 1981), better known as Kate Abdo, is an English journalist who works for Sky Sports News in the United Kingdom.

Broadcasting career

Abdo anchored the World Sport program from London twice a day. Previously, she had anchored sports at DW-TV, a German TV channel. Abdo joined CNN in July 2009. She has interviewed sporting greats such as Clarence Seedorf, David Ginola, Jackie Stewart, and Lawrence Dallaglio. In August 2011 she left CNN and joined Sky Deutschland. She was an anchor for the Sky Sport News HD TV channel, which started broadcasting on 1 December 2011.

In July 2013, she started hosting on Sky Sports News in the United Kingdom. she and Feltner moved to England. She hosted the Coppa Italia on Sky Sports.[1]

In January 2015, she hosted the 2014 FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony speaking with contestants and guests in four languages.[2][3]

Education

Born in Manchester, she graduated from the University of Salford with a first-class BA (Hons) in European Languages.[1] Before moving to London, Abdo lived in Spain, France and Germany, and is fluent in Spanish, French, and German in addition to her native English.
