Karnataka Folklore University, Gotagodi, Shiggaon [1][2][3] is a new Public university exclusively dedicated to the study and research of Folklore which is established in 2011 at Shiggaon district by the Government of Karnataka. First vice chancellor for the university is Prof. Ambalike Hiriyanna.[4]
First folklore university
The University, is claimed to be World's first University for Folklore[5][6][7] and India's first folklore University [8] was inaugurated on 16 June 2012 by the Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri B S Yediyurappa and the university is located at Gotagodi, Shiggaon, Karnataka, India.[4] It offers degrees in MA,MSc in folklore, communication, ancient science, MBA in rural business and management, MPhil and Phd.[4]
